Freelander 2 (LR2) help please

Hi ive just recently purchased a freelander 2 model 58 year
I was having problems with the reversing sensors and back window not going up and down this is not all the time but more not working than is
I have taken it to a garage to have it put on computer and have been told there is a fault on it and needed a new cjb fuse box which they tell me will be hundreds of pounds
is it possible that the part can be fixed instead of replaced
ive tried to find a part but this cjb fuse box is not comming up anywhere any help would be great thanks

I'd be very surprised if you needed a new CJB for those symptoms!

The CJB holds the coding for the keys and security etc so can't be swapped from car to car so a second hand unit is no good to you anyway.

Where are you located? What garage did you take it to and do you know what disgnostic kit they used?

Reversing sensors are activated via the CJB whereas the windows are directly driven from the CJB iirc. However they aren't connected to each other in the CJB so it's unlikely to be the CJB at fault. As said the CJB is programmed to each VIN so swapping isn't possible. I'd be looking at bad connections at the CJB as there are a huge number of connectors going to it. I've heard of water getting onto the CJB on occasion so it needs looking at.
The revers sensors might not be related to the CJB and often have there own issues with various symptoms.

it went to sheffield prestige garage
i dont know what diagnostic they used but it says on the invoice

carried out checks into rev park fault found control
module CAN bus fault carried out wiring checks from
CJB to park aid module ok
reflashed modules still inop suspect to req CJB

ADVISORY CJD fuse box £781 plus vat and labour

cost of test £144

If CAN bus was down due to the CJB being faulty then you wouldn't start the car and a lot of other items wouldn't work as it's used for a lot of things on a FL2

When the rear window doesn't work do the parking sensors work?

What else doesn't work at the same time?

I suspect a wiring fault somewhere rather then the CJB

The window now has not worked for a while but the reversing sensors sometimes come on when u first put the car into reverse but then cut out whilst still reversing
I could put up with them not working but really want the window
Everything else is working up to now

Like td4van I seriously doubt that the CJB is the problem. It's likely a faulty window connection or the motor it's self. The parking sensors suffer from a verity of faults. Any problems on the CAN bus will throw up warning lights all over the place as well as preventing the engine from starting in most cases, so the chance of a CAN fault is unlikely.
Ideally you could do with finding someone locally with an IID BT tool. These are awesome bits of kit for finding faults on the Freelander 2.
