Help please with Disco 300tdi Auto - Gears

Hi All,

hope someone can help. I have a Disco 300tdi Auto 1998.

I was driving home from work on the dual carriageway and the revs went up as it someone popped the car into neutral - no power to drive. So I pulled over took it out of gear, put it back to Drive - nothing - nothing in reverse either. Checked to make sure it hadn't popped into neutral on the L/H gear stick - no fine, but curiously when I put DIFF LOCK ON I had power,so I limped home like it, have since checked that I have power with Diff Lock on both in High and Low and I have.

So to recap I have power when in Diff Lock High and Low - but nothing in normal drive position in High and Low.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

By the sound of it you have broken a halfshaft in one of the axles,try doing a search on here for more info on this though as i can't help any further. Hope you get it sorted.

Hi Thanks Smarty, took it to the garage - you were bang on. It's gonna cost 250 squids to fix, but thank god it's not the gearbox.

No Pros m8,glad you've managed to get it sorted. That reminds me i had better sort out my difflock linkage just in case it happens to mine.
