Help please! what brake fluid for my 110?

I have an N reg (1985\6) Defender 110. Can anyone please tell me what DOT brake fluid I should use as I don't have a user manual. Many thanks for your time lovely experts!

Use DOT 4 or above. Look at the cap on the brake fluid reservoir that should tell you.

IIRC the DOT rating is the fire retardance offered by the oil. The newer, the more fire retardant the oil the higher the DOT rating.

Not fire retardance, it's the boiling point that's the real difference. Also a difference in water absorption.

btw, dot5 is silicon based.. don't mix 3,4 or 5.1 with it.
