while driving in a str8 line it is fine also when I steer to the left it is also fine but on occasion when I steer to the right its like I have to get past a notch first before it will turn and whats more this dosn't happen all the time it is most noticable after a long run on the motorway and always happens on the same corner near to home but does also happen at other times

does n e one have n e idea's please

If I were you I would be jacking up the front end to get both wheels off the ground. Then get a helper to slowly turn the wheel while you're underneath feeling each component in turn to establish where the roughness is coming from.

I'd take the offside wheel off, then the hub and look at the swivels, wheel bearings and CV joint. One, some or all might have issues. Tight wheel bearings might heat up and 'boil' grease away. On a long run this heat might do the same to the grease in the CV joint, and the swivels might be pitted anyway ... ;)

It's also got to be worth checking Power Steering fluid levels and free movement of all linkages/joints etc in the steering system.
