Hi im new to this forum, however pretty sure il be using it reguarly the amount of things which seem to break on my landy!

My 1989 90 makes a clunking noise when rolling at very slow speeds (1-2mph ish) it makes no difference if the engine is on, if clutch is depressed or not and whether it is in gear or not.

Just had the front diff replaced as it was worn where it connects to the front propshaft and was hoping this would sort the noise, but it still does it. grr! Pretty sure when i looked i could see the rear prop kind of juddering (starting and stopping) at this speed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

firstly check all yo propshats uj's;
then without the front of the front propshaft attached to the diff, try turning the front prop and see if the front flange on the Tbox moves - if so that is slack in the Tbox gears.
If yu rotate the front prop back and for - it will show you how much play there is in the Tbox and the Gearbox drive gear.

so does it really matter if it is slack in the transfer box apart from the noise?I haven't checked yet but i have no money to fix it if the transfer box needs replacing!

cheers for all the help, hav greased the ujs and the noise is much quieter! gonna take the rear prop off today has no movement whatsoever anywhere so could be seized!

will let you know how it goes!
