right i cant unlock the dam thing with the thob, can only get drivers door to open usin the key, immobiliser light will not stop flashing so immobiliser is staying on so i cant start the vehicle, thob battery fine just replaced it, one thob has never worked also had a new battery put in it, battery voltage on the vehicle is fine, can hear relays ticking away when trying to start vehicle but that is all i get as the immobilisher light stays on, also tried doing the reset thing nuthoing changed, also tried the rountine of putting the code in and again same old story light stays on relay clicks and the engine stays dead, so wot you reckon is it goin to be the immblisier, new, reprograme, or is it goin to be the reciver unit for the thob or any thing els you clever guys can think off, any help on this would be great and asap due to wanted to use the freelander this weekend cheers john

Vehicle details? keys and fobs are different depending on year.

Are you using a key that has worked before?

A crude test for fob signal output:Operate fob buttons near to a radio on LW or MW tuned off station, you should hear a click.

Receiver is in instruments pod, remove housing and you'll see receiver, basically on top of speedo, check all connections are clean/tight and retry fob operation.

yes iv tried re-synching, erm the code that is on my key card thing, he way the manual tells me to, its w reg freelander, yes i am using the key an fob that did work when i purcheses the god dam thing, i will try the crude test for signal output, and i aslo take the instrument panel out and check the receiver cheers any more info would be great and once again thank you people

That is good gen that.

I can't understand why the emergency code won't work, are you sure your following the correct procedure and accurately returning the key to the upright position each time?

Disconnect the vehicle battery for half an hour and then reconnect it. Not sure but maybe this will reset the CCU.

Press the reset on the inertia switch as well just in case that's been triggered.

Make sure the vehicle is super-locked/alarmed then retry the emergency key code, (make sure you wait the 6 minutes) have the good/working fob actually on the keyring but nothing else when you put the key in the ignition and turning to position 2 after gaining access as this should resync the fob.

right in he end brought a key and fob tester, was not getting a signal from any of the fobs, but have both been repaired,
yer i ant got a clue why the emergency code thing was notworking does not make sence, yep followed the procdeure and was allowing the key to return, i had all ready tried the inertia switch and tried disconnecting the battery did not making any change,
but like i said pobs was not sending a signal, but now as been sorted and both pobs seem to be working fine and car is running
cheers for you help people
cheers john

Glad it's sorted :). What's the tester and what did you do to the fobs to repair them?

buttons wer not operating, and some tw*t had sprayd the fob with wd40 y i dont know, key and fob tester is a simple device that tells you if the key or fob to aany vehicle is sending a signal like i said simple device comes in usefull in a garage tho Sealey IR & RF Key Fob Tester
loads of these things onthe market, but yer after finding out the fob was not sending a signal i striped the fob, this was when i found a puddle of wd40, cleaned the fob with some electrical contact cleaner and unjamed one off the buttons retested and working fine, o yer cause one of the buttons had kinda jammed when i was pressing the button it was not making any contact, and the iother just a clean and seems to be working fine
