Help please. Gauges.

Hi,
Can Anyone help help me with this problem. 2.5 86 Turbo 90.
Problem is the FUEL, TEMP, BATTERY COND , Gauges are staying active even when I have switched off ignition. Checked connectors etc but no joy. Would appreciate any suggestions as to why the power is still being fed to these items. Chas.

Sound like a short. probably in the connections at the rear of the ignition switch mechanism. have you checked to see if your lights will come on when ignition is switched off? If they do then deffo the ignition switch. the keys turned off but the contacts at the rear are still "on"

Thanks for reply, Should the lights not come on without ignition on as you suggest for parking etc as my ones do work with ign switch off.

with the igition off you should get park light but not dip and main beam (unless you flash the main beam) I'm not sure if that applies to a 86 ,90 But I think it does. however I maybe wrong (it has been known)
