hi all my wifes 52 plate 1.8 freelander cut out this morning and wouldnt start again she got it recovered i had a look at it and

it was turning over had spark ect ect red flashing light on dash was off and the damm thing still wouldnt fire up so i thought petrol

tryed to here pump in tank buzzing and it was tryed to fire up still no joy so i pulled off petrol pipe that is on top off pump in petrol tank told her to switch on and out came the petrol in a rush

so put it back on fired up and it started very strange been useing it all day with no probs do you think pump in tank is on way out

or could there been an air lock or is this yet another unexplained mistry of the freelanders thanks all

think its tryin to tell you to stop usin it cos head gasket's gonna go!!

seriouslly though....

heard of airlock before, usually taking filler cap off sorts it.
check cap's breather aint blocked.

I had a similar problem with my freelander. my car would also lose power when i was driving or if i tried pulling away after being sat at traffic lights it just wouldn't move. if your car starts doing this, it will be the valve in the fuel pump that is on its way out. it took 2 garages and 5 days of tests to work that out. i was told it was the ecu, lambd unit all sorts, and all it needed was a new fuel pump. this has sorted the problem.
