Help needed

The 2.6 in my series was binned .:eek:
Replaced with a 3 litre straight six from a rover P5, together with the 4.3 .diffs .It bolted straight on to the gearbox but had to cut away part of the bulk head as the engine sits a lot higher.
It went extremly well,but a

las when four star petrol went so it too had to go.(it's the valve thing):)
Replaced that with a rover v8 and have never looked back.
Theres plenty of good cheap ones out there and fuel economy isn't so. obad either.

Are the 2.6 engines really that bad? I bought one a few months ago and it's been fine so far (touch wood). When I was considering buying it, 2 separate land rover 'enthusiasts' / nutters told me they were good engines :confused:

You can always confim this via the series clubs and indeed the relevant Land
Rover magazines .(technical section)
But hey each to his own.:
Remember they are an IOE engines and unless you can do the valves yourself
it's going to cost you.

I see, guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed while driving! In reality, I could do the work myself but if the engine packs up I'd take the opportunity to put something else in instead
