yes, the engine bay is the same ;)

Not exactly. The bulkhead/transmission tunnel is different as the engine is longer. The gearbox is also has a different bellhousing. I have a 6cyl engine and gearbox (hasn't been run in years!) if you're interested. Personally, I wouldn't bother. It's a lot of hassle for what you'll get. I would either put a TDI 200 or V8 in if it's power you're after.

WRONG!!!! The bulkhead is the bit behind the seats. Though everyone calls the firewall a bulkhead in reality it's wrong.

The bulkhead is a bulkhead, and is also a firewall. Bulkheads are classed as a partition. They are vertical panels for sub-dividing space, or strengthening a structure.

A bulkhead can act as a firewall. It can hold water/air/fire in or out of it's structure; whatever use you deem suitable for the partition.

oh ffs what does it matter what its called, the truth odf the matter is that a 6 cyl willfit in an 88 the same as it will in a 109 now shut the **** up
:D :D :D .........anyway going back to the original question. If you want to fit a LR 6 cyl engine into anything you do indeed need help:confused: They are generally referred to as rubbish:D

Actually I think you'll find what people generally refer to as rubbish is actually refuse. A 6 cyinder engine does not become refuse until it is scrapped or dumped. The word you are looking for is actually 'poor', 6 cylinder engines are poor.

every landy ive come across with a 2.6 has been laid up with a dropped valve, so i cant see why anyone would want to choose one for their landy, either go for a v8,or go for a diesel.
