hi I have a d2 52 plate, the other day I was driving along and all of a sudden I lost abit of power about 2000 rpm so I gave it some to see if any ****e came out of the exhaust and was all ok, when I got to work I noticed steam coming out of the grill so lifted bonnet and I had popped a nose that goes from the radiator to the header tank, so when cooled I refitted the hose and topped up with anti freeze, it lasted a few days then popped again, so refilled and that and now I don't seem to have the power, still goes doesn't over heat, if someone was to get in they wouldn't know that it's lost power, it's very my newt but I can tell. Is this a sign that the head gasket is going? It's got a p15 engine in. Any help would be very much apperciated

if coolant becomes low enough so top hose isnt full temp sensor at top hose outlet will misread and reduce engine power, check for coolant loss but good eay be signs of head gasket

If it is a head gasket, they are quite simple to do,you only need a few tools and a Haynes manual for torque settings,if it is only a gasket change it can be done by 2 people in a day.

Depending on by how much it overheated while the coolant level was low, there might be the possibility of warping of the head.
I would advise that you change the cylinder head bolts at the same time, the stretch when new bolts are first installed is accounted for in the listed torque wrench setting.
It would also be a reasonable idea to replace the cam cover gasket and the rubber seals on the bolts too.
