Hi everyone, I have recently had a new windscreen fitted to my 55 plate Range Rover Vogue and now the windscreen wipers/washers front and back don't work and the power steering also. A technician from the windscreen company has been here this morning and gone through all the fuses but they seem fine however - when the crew that fitted the screen found that the four wires to the rain and light sensors in the rear view mirror were hanging loose ( long story but they obviously broke them ) and had shorted something out because the only thing that worked was the side and interior lights !. After yet another visit ( 4th now) they taped off each of the four wires and all but the washers/wipers came back on but the steering is still really heavy. Has any one ever come across this and can suggest what it might be. No doubt it will have to go in to Landrover but what a pain in the neck as I need the car and it was running like a dream until this happened. Only done 50k and never had a single problem until this happened. I would be grateful for your thoughts.

have you checked the fues in the glove box and the right hand side boot compartment?
Thanks for that but yes, have checked all the fuses. Could it be a circuit board or one of the fuse link boxes ?. Front and back wipers out so can't be a blown motor. Just doesn't make sense.

Diagnostics of the databuses may help.....it all seems to point to the rain sensor!! if there is a block on the databus to the rain sensor it could cause an issue....remember the whole car works on a series of data networks, many systems are interlinked with others....the steering is speed sensitive, and that comes from the CANbus...so maybe there is an issue with that! possibly!

Also check the servotronic valve - this little gizmo is what varies the steering weight.

Many thanks for that - sounds like you have hit the nail on the head. Well out of my league though so will get it to Landrover tomorrow. Really appreciate your help. Thanks again. Denis.
