 Help Please.

I have a disco only and I am trying to help a French freind who has an old 110 that he has modified seriously. I am talking about the Front halfshafts

He now has a 24 spline diff true Trac and has previously modified his CV joint to 24 to what I believe to be on the interior as well as the exterior just like the Ashcroft and Kam ones etc.

My Question is what standard Landy (if any ?) had this 24 spline to 24 spline half shafts if anyone can help?

Thanks

Dave

Thanks for this. So it has to be a special KAM / Ashcroft half shaft to get this arrangement or change the CV to 32/33 interior fitting.

Thanks once again.

Dave

Right, If ita an early 110 or indeed certain early RRC axle it will have a 23 spline spline inners which are the strongest CV joint LR ever made. However Lr never made the strong inner Cv with a 24 spline Diff. I think what your friend has is the strongest setup i.e 24 drive member, 23 inner CV and 24 spline Diff. LR never made shafts for that. The only options available to you are :

Ashroft HD front shafts, or Kam HD aerospace shafts

90/110/Defender options from LR:

24 spline drive member, 23 spline inner CV, 10 spline diff upto inc 200tdi,

24 spline drive member, 33 spline inner CV, 24 spline Diff 300tdi and I believe Td5.

RRC and Disco axles have front stub shafts all 10 spline.

10 spline stub shaft, 33 spline inner CV, 10 spline diff,
10 spline Stub shaft, 23 spline inner CV, 10 spline diff, Certain years Early ones i think.
24 spline drive member, 33 spline inner CV, 24 spline diff Late 200 and all 300Tdi.

33 spline dispite having more splines is very week its dia is pittful!

10 pline is somthing like just over an inch dia and 24 spine is circa 25-30% bigger dia.

23 spline inner Cv are as big as 24 splines very big dia.

Tru trac isnt too bad but I'd seriously look into ashcroft shafts. If it was a locker then deffo as those little 33 spline inner CV's are not great. Only think when they break (not IF) When they break they go at the CV end which can be good if you manage to get away without causing damage to the CV itself.
