Short answer....yes you can.

Longer answer......Are you jumping to conclusions? 8 mpg is rubbish but what do you get on petrol? Is there a big difference?

There is nothing wrong with a correctly adjusted 'open loop' system (manual power valve as you describe) and doubt if changing to closed loop will improve your consumption by more than a couple of mpg unless the current system is really badly adjusted. How many turns out from fully closed is the valve?

For reference, I have open loop feeding twin SU's and get upset with less than 14mpg from mixed motoring.

Cheers

Chris

I have a 3.9 with carbs and getting 13 when I measure it favourably - when I drive properly - I get much less.

Funny enough, Greenpeace have stopped sending me Christmas cards.
