yeah that's doable... has he been recovered somewhere safe for the night or is it needing attention tonight? Cov. is about 45 mins away..

(If he's somewhere safe for the night can pop over first thing in the morning to him)

Thanks Bump. Texted you.

Hi, don't know how the fuel pump is wired up in the defender but the old rover sd1 v8s was wired so if you lost oil pressure it would cut the fuel to save damage to the engine, don't know if it's any help but just a thought as to what the rac man is thinking?

That's what the Rac man said. Says its the oil pressure switch faulty.

did they check the oil pressure? if the oil pressure is ok and the switch is faulty, just short the wire to earth and carry on

You will need to ascertain how the oil pressure sensor affects the lt side of the coil.

Do you have a spare oil switch, to try? If not they are only a couple of quid.

Good luck. Keep us informed....

Don't have a spare oil switch, but, googling around it would appear its the same switch used in the 200 and 300tdi as well... part PRC6387

Anyone local have one kicking around? Seems that replacing that (given that they cost £2) is the easiest option to start with if we can get one.

Edit: Found a place which can get one in for midday...

Found a guy on the Northants4x4 club with a spare one, so, hopefully will be popping over to his to collect one then can get up to Rugby and have a go at fixing it for her.
