Hello, newbie here. I bought a 1995 Discovery a couple of months ago and thank goodness I did with all this snow about! I only have one door key at the moment until I get a spare cut. I don't have the remote locking key.
When I lock or unlock the drivers door I can hear what I assume is the locking mechanism but it sounds so violent and loud and then there is a "Shhhh" sound about one second later..... Then when I'm inside happily driving about the countryside, the vehicle randomly locks me inside. This is a real pain. I used to just climb into the passenger side and get out but now I find that I can just lower the electric window, remove the key from the ignition put the key into the door lock via the open window, then I have to turn the key to lock the vehicle and then unlock the vehicle, then I can pull the internal door lock and it will open, then I have to put the key back into the ignition to put the electric window up and finally, I can get out!!!!! When it locks me in - there is no noticeable sound and the lock button does not move downwards.
Does anyone know what might be the problem please? Thank you in advance!!
