Help me out please

Hi so I have a range rover l322 3lt Auto box I have had to put a new engine in as the second cylinder had gone and this is donenow the car now runs now but wean I put it in drive or any selection it does not move now the gearbox was good before I removed the engine and the torque converter was as well it has had a recon gearbox last year I have plugged it in with no faults I have not put any gearbox oll in yet as I did not take any out could this be causing the problem please help me out as I need the car for my disabled daughter thanks

Did you remove the TC with the engine?

The issue is more than likely the Converter isn't properly seated/fitted on the front pump.

Ok so will I need to pull the engine back out

As the car is fully back together

Yes or the gearbox.

Just pray you can seat the converter correctly and it hasn't ruined the splines..

This time remove the converter to flexplate bolts before separating the engine/box..

I have had this engine out 3 times as it came with a bad sump so the 1st time I took it out on the engine the I left it in and just removed the engine now what is the fastest engine out or box out thanks

I'd say gearbox out is quicker..

I leave the desision up to you..

If you can stomach pulling the engine for the 4th time then do that..

Gearbox would be quicker on a ramp..

Can it be done on the drive or will I not get the range up of the floor enough to get the box out

With the M62 v8 you can get the ZF unit out without a ramp, i'd say the same for the diesel.

Ok I will have a look now if I have put it in wrong what do I need to look out for and just to let you no I have a spare torque converter will I need it

You will have to inspect the splines to make sure none of them are damaged Install the converter on transmission carefully, rotate converter as you push it on.

Ideally if you're unfamiliar with the gearbox you should of measured the converter set back clearance before removing it, however since you didn't, it'll have to be done by feel.

The engine and gearbox should come together easily, you shouldn't use the bellhousing bolts to pull the two together, if you have to something has gone wrong..
Flex plate bolts should be equally easy..

torque converter has to sit below bell housing face a mm or so more than drive plate sits out from rear face of engine

Ok so I did the 1st time but the next 2 I did not have to ok so I will need to just get on it and see if I have mest up I hope I have not as I just dont have the funds to spend no more on it how do I get the torque converter of the gearbox as I did try the 2 time I had the engine out but it would not pull off it moved towards me by a inch but then would not move no more so sorry to go on 1st time I have worked on a range rover
