Hi guys,
I have a 300TDi 1999 and it has recently developed some starting, running and stalling problems. It is very difficult to start now, whereas before it started first kick every time. It has a total lack of power, I mean there's nothing there with the accelerator pushed to the floor, then it just kicks back in. When stopped at lights and such it shakes and nearly stalls. I replaced the injectors a while back when it first started and did have a problem with the overflow return pipes leaking (not sure of the names but the little bolts screwed into the injectors with pipes attached). I tightened them properly and replaced the copper washers and fitted new hoses, which stopped the leaking fuel but the running problems remain, does anyone have any advice? I thought it might be the injector pump, which will be expensive I gather, so would like to explore other possible options first
Cheers

probably 100,000k's now that you mention it, reckon it could be that? I think i'll change it anyway as would be well due. I took it for a run again yesterday after posting the query and noticed when it stops that fuel is leaking from somewhere on the injector pump just couldn't see where but will clean it all down and track it back.

I had similar problems with mine a couple of months ago. i was fearing the worst with injector pump, but turned out lift pump and fuel pipes were blocked up with crap from the tank. replaced pump, blew pipes out with air line, cleaned tank out. not had any problems since.

had the same proplem as you yesterday jimgould. i ran some fresh deisel straight to the injector pump (took off the pipe from the filter) to eliminate an injector pump problem. Drained the fuel tank and de-gunked it, still had problems so i took the top off the lift pump and it was full of crap!

Thanks guys will give that a go, actually had to have the injector pump serviced anyway as it turned out to be leaking from the body. But will def clean out the tank and pump now
