HELP, knocking underneath p38

occasionally knocking(loud)from underneath p38 at slow or fast speed no probs after the knock no loss of power seems to be coming from drivers foot well.

have ya not been leavin pasty behind for em?

Does it happen all the time or just recently? In the snow I heard a noise coming from that area in mine but it was my TC coming on.

If its on acceleration and say up an incline, then it could be your transfer box is starting to go, just one of many possible theories, give more details as to how and what type of conditions it occurs

I get this a little bit too sometimes, but its not loud and feels like a tapping under my feet. I had a look whats there and all i thought it could be was the loose exhaust heat shield vibrating in the wind? Is that possible?

Hi there,

I get the same thing, i can feel a tapping under my feet when i go over 50/60mph, ive had a good look under there and can't see or feel anything loose etc, but something is definately hitting the underside of the footwell. Be interesting to see what peoples thoughts are or is it just another bit of "character"

A few years ago I had a tapping which increased with road speed. Turned out to be a heatshield which had dropped down and hitting off the grease nipple on the front propshaft!!:mil75:
