Hi, I have a freelander 1.8 Y reg 2001. I had a blocked Rad and expansion cap blew. head gasket ok. New Rad fitted, Should I have changed cap as well as its leaking under pressure? Its new style cap and tank. Any advice pls. Thanks

i'dve changed it for the sake of £3

make sure the system is fully bled (it can take ages to do it correctly)

Check the tank. They are prone to cracking.

Welcome to the mad house. How sure are you the head gasket is not blown? Yes put a new cap on, and as mentioned they do not bleed easy and was the cooling system recall done on your 1.8?

Hi, RAC checked on garage test system through expansion bottle 4 blown head, low reading so ok they said. I don't know about the recal info, were would I look? Does have thermostat inline by rad, and no thermost in back of engine, Thanks
