Help identifying tank connections

Hi, just wonderd if anybody can help me identify what does what, im hoping for a fuel feed, fuel return and a + n - for fuel gauge.

From memory the back one is the inlet and the front pipe is the return from the engine, if you take the pipes out have a look at them and one has a siv like filter on it, that's the one that feeds the engine
 
Diesel I'd have thought - my petrol has no return and only one terminal on the sender. Diesels need a return from the injectors plus an electrical connector for the low fuel light.
 
well mine is a diesel and has 2, one sender one return like oxides said beause of the injector pump and the big hole thing held on with about 6-8 screws holds the fuel gauge sensor
 
from memory they are both - 's, one earths the low fuel light and the other earths the fuel guage dependant on fuel level
/\ /\ /\ What he said, that is defo a diesel tank and sender, give it a damn good clean out if you are going to use it for petrol.
 
Ok, kool ill have to use a multi-meter to figure out which is which, as for the fuel lines... i opened it up today but both connections are just tubes as you can see, i would imagine that the one that is the deepest is the feed but could be wrong
