just having a chuckle now trying to figure out how to do the job, no luck with Rave, so going to scout google and see what is what, I got the feeling it's just a case of drain the system, pull the pipes and unscrew the old throttle body and fit the new one?. I guess I will feel better tomorrow and I can physically have a look.

I will be honest though, my dad had this Range Rover for 6 years and only really sorted the blue wire issue for the remote, oh yeah and the o-rings that leaked coolent into the foot-well, that was a proper laugh I have never twisted my body into such an unusual shape to fit those ba**ards. Other than that it's been brilliant. Now she's mine and this is the first thing to happen and for a Landy her age I really can't say a bad thing about it.

Why drain the system? Clamp the pipes, replace the t/b , clean up the pipe ends and refit.;)

mmmm I don't have any mole grips to clamp the pipes, I'm working with a pretty basic typical DIY home mechanic tool box :). It's a good thought though.

I guess my way round that would be to take the RR to my dads house his tool boxes are a treasure trove of tools lol.

I have been having a thought and I think I have the right answer but can someone confirm.

The Lucas HotWire engine in the 3.9ltr V8 used in the S1 Disco and RR Classic is the one with the Plenum Chamber

The Bosch engine in the 4.6 RR P38 and S2 Disco is the one with the bunch of banana type tubes on the top.

Cheers

Just to finish this off, it turned out to be the plate under the throttle body, with the help of my dad, we took the coolent return pipe off and inspected it, it turned out to be fine so we re fitted it, following the YouTube video I posted a link to the whole job from start to finish took maybe 3 hours at the most.

Big thanks to everyone for there help.

John

No for the whole job, removing and re fitting the coolent pipe, then the TB heater. The coolent pipe was really awkward to get off the header tank and re fitting it was a awkward job because of the way it's routed round the engine.

Are you taking the ****, of course i'm not in the trade, im a DIY mechanic and if I was a main dealer would I be on here asking about part numbers, Jesus H Christ, go in a corner and think about what you said, you tit!

Think you may have slightly misunderstood the jocular nature of Alan's answer. Maybe you need to do a bit of thinking about your response. ;)

No I understood him perfectly thanks.

Funny thing is this thread is closed, so why add to it by attempting to sound clever.

Anyway the job is done, thread closed time to move on.

Happy new year everyone.

Had 2 range rovers and a discovery v8. Only one of the rr had a throttle body heater (and it leaked). Never had any issue unheated, so are they for artic expeditions or what?

You don't decide when the thread is closed, if any member want's to reply that is their option. My point was that if you took 3 hr's to complete your task and gave a customer that sort of bill then it woudn't be long before you were out of business, unless you were a main stealer who's customers are not happy unless they get an inflated bill. Anyway, get over yourself and try to get a sence of humour in the New Year. All the best to you and all Members of the Forum for 2016;):D

Not attempting to sound clever. If you had have understood him perfectly you would not have made a cock of yourself with your answer. You do not decide when a thread is closed. You asked for help and you got it. Maybe next time it won't be so easy to get.

@JOHN ELLIS we help each other and take the mick out of each other....you're lucky it happened in the right order for a change :D

Relax, breathe a sigh of relief that it's sorted (until the next thing) and have a good night :)
