Hi Guys

A strange one for you...

I have a 2004 L322 RR 4.4 petrol. About a year about I upgraded the Sat Nav to a MK4 unit with the 2011 maps.

Now, 2-3 months ago a mechanic did some work for us and disconnected the battery. And ever since then the on-board messages that come up on the green LCD screen are all in French!!!

The original mk3 sat nav had an option in its menu's to change between English and French. BUT, this has been removed for the mk4 unit, and so the language change can no longer me made that way!!!

It does not affect the nav 'head unit' (colour screen) as that's all in English, but it's the messages in the green LCD screen (time for example is now "HEURE 18:20"). Really annoying as lots of useful messages show there!

Any ideas how to change it back??? Can it be done at a main dealer?

I sold my mk3 unit otherwise I'd pop it back in, change to English, and then change it back.

Is this likely to happen every time the battery gets disconnected???

HELP PLEASE (aide s'il vous plaît)!!!

Many thanks!

I am no L322 Expert (nor for anything else come to think of it!!) but sounds to me like a trip to the Local Stealer or a good Indy with a Testbook is in order....

You may be able to do it using the Faultmate Extreme or another fullfat device.

call landrover uk. they sorted my mates one out over the phone, told him exactly how to do it.. took 2 minutes apparantly.. i just tried calling him but he is on holiday

I've called LRUK and they are getting back to me. They have to relay a message to techincal, and then they call back.

very polite and professional, but I know the reply will come back "do it on the head unit", and then I'll need to explain it's a mk4 and so needs to be done outside of the head unit.

I believe the MK4 was never fitted into Range Rovers??? It was a BMW only thing, right?

Many thanks

The Mk 4 does have the language change option (sorry about the picture quality - phone camera in the dark :))

Hi there

Very odd... On my it does not say 'set' but instead (from memory) it says 'Config' - and there is defo no option for language in the menu!!!

I called LRUK to ask. They advised that there is a "proceedure" - but that I would have to take the car to a local dealership (and pay). I asked if by "proceedure" they mean holding X button down for 10 seconds, then do this etc - or if it actually needs to go on to diagnostics and be changed there...

He did not know and said they'd advise me at the local dealership - argh!

So, called my local dealership, and awaiting a call back from their service manager. That was yesterday.

Try this one...Go to config menu and select speed camera alerts to ON.
For some peculiar reason this has just reset our RR back to English. Let me know how you get on. RudiesOwner

Hi there

Thanks for that - and good plan!!

I actually re-installed the Sat Nav software. I contacted the guy who supplies me Sat Nav software and he provided an older version so I could roll back.

I then re-installed my original software and hey-presto - all in English again!

The software guy also mentioned that this blip has something to do with speed camera settings!! So most likely that's the source of the issue.

(Sorry about the old thread revival - but useful info discovered)

With MkIV head/software when you get to ‘Camera Alerts’ - there are three boxes: on, off and a blank one. If you click on the blank one it goes to language options (only GB, French and German on mine). Camera alerts have to be on to get English. If turned off it goes into French.
