TD4 is smoking like a nigga in prison, think turbo has gone. can i put a turbo off a 2002 td4 on my 55 plate.
Supposed to be going to france in the heap of poo poo rammle next month. - the family didnt fancy around 750 miles in the series!

When was the pcv last changed? Check it before attacking the turbo.

After a 30 minute run with the engine on idle - SLOWLY withdraw the dip-stick - there should be no release of pressure and definitely not any sign of oil coming up the tube.

As for changing the turbo - if the above doesn't fix it - I think they are all the same on the TD4s.

Good luck.

Thanks mate. got oil coming out exhaust. will idle for half hour later and let you know results

You may be too late and the turbo seals have gone due to the pcv being choked.

With a bit of luck you'll maybe get away with it.

Don't fit a new turbo without changing the pcv as if the pcv is full of cr*p then you'll feck the next turbo too.

LR stealers don't stock the part you need - you'll get it at any BMW parts dept. They call it an 'Oil Seperator' for the M47 engine.

This plastic vortex/cyclone gizmo cannot choke and replaces the tampon/loo-roll job that gunges up solid.
