HELP, HELP ... freelander 1.8 petrol 05 problem

Hi All , im a newbie in the forum , please be gentle ...

I am having a major problem with my 05 freelander 1.8 petrol.

Im no mechanic and this is my first freelander i have bought, the problem is that i can drive a few days without a problem and then all of a sudden as I'm driving the freelander starts to jerk a little and then just cuts out - if i attempt to restart it immedistely it just swings the motor but will not start. I leave it for 2 or 3 min and then restart it and it fires up immediately again , i drive for another 2 miles and the car repeats the process ... the last time being yesterday on the M3 !!! the car stopped 6 times before i managed to get back to Basingstoke !!

its almost as if it feels like their is a cut out sensor just switching the motor off or maybe the petrol pump not pushing the fuel through !! im just taking a shot in the dark here, other days i can ride perfectly with nothing happening and then all of a sudden the process starts again, the car temperature gauge is perfect and the freelander is not overheating ... please help !!!! does anyone know a good mechanic in basingstoke that can help me ...

Hi welcome to the forum best bet is to do a search or repost in the gaylander section, there is loads of usefull info about hair straightners and curling tongs

My dearest noob, in the general context of Landyzone.co.uk, his was a most helpful response. For one, there was no insulting diatribe aimed at yourself, for which you should be ever grateful. It is standard practise herein to summarily dismiss those who post with no formal introduction of themselves, merely a technical question and then once problem solved said noob retreats into the hereafter.
Second, you own a freelander, you got off lightly.
Third, sound advice WAS given, that being USE THE SEARCH BUTTON.

Either spit your dummy and go crying to mummy, or give back some abuse and join in the fun

when it cuts out see if your fule tank is pressurised by takeing the cap off dude

Thanks Spunka, will give it a go ... hey Strange_Days, i have actually been having a good laugh realising my mistake ... i knew i should have bought a Discovery instead

When you have removed the cap, chuck in a lit match and retreat to a safe distance.:flame2::flame2:
