HELP!! HDC or Low Box?

Hi,
we are due to leave the Lake District this morning, however we have had snow over night. There is a short 50m but steep downhill to the main road. Should I use HDC (how do I invoke?) or low 1st/2nd?

I'd use HDC in 1'st on snow...anyway it's working only in low, so if u are already in low why not to use it....(i used it several times and it worked beautifull)

Low, then 1st or 2nd(acording to how slippery it is) then push HDC and dont touch the pedals(brake or throtle) and HDC will do it's job(touching the pedals will deactivate HDC)
