HELP!! ... getting hot after only one mile.

Hi all,

I have just done a oil change, new filter, new diesel filter and air filter. and I was chuffed.

but ....

my engine get really hot after driving only one mile. took the radiator top off and the water was hot.

any ideas?
I used 15/40w oil. its a land rover discovery, 'n' reg.

First stop is to check you haven't disturbed the wires for the temperature transducer etc,

That's a benefit for the engine to heat up quickly, is it not.
