Help...EAS PUMP Seal

I am trying to change the EAS Pump Seal. I am following the idiots guide and got to the stage of taking out the Piston Head Screw. Now stuck. Cant budge the piston out. I have used a screwdriver to slide it out but no joy. Am I doing something wrong, How much force do I need to remove the piston. By the way, the seal is well well worn out.

Any help please??
 
Nothing in the idiots guide about compressor seal replacement, so not sure what you are following.
There are threads on the subject, or look at rangerovers.net for more info.
 
have you removed the second screw,if so jam a screwdriver and pry it free!try not to breath the dust when you clean pump,made me feel really ill!
 
Not sure what point you are at ? have you removed the grub screw from the crank and are trying to get the piston assy off the shaft ?
 
Following the guide from the dutch company that supplied the seal. Removed both head screws but piston wont budge. I worried i might break something if brute force applied. There is nothing else holding the piston in is there??
 
They can be uber tight. It is poosible to do the seal without removing the piston, just takes a bit of juggling. Otherwise perservere with a couple of stout screwdrivers and try and lever from both sides at the same time.
 
Well again thanks for your help guys. I did not manage to get the piston off the shaft so I replaced the seal in situ. A bit fidley and sometimes you need an extra finger but now it is done.

Wow, what a difference. Suspension goes up straight away and the pump only activates for about five seconds whereas before the pump was going all the time. I recommend to everyone who has not replaced the seal to get it done. My RR has done 78000 miles and the seal was completely shagged

About two hours - a little patience - Now that I have done this job I can say that the job is simple - but at the time I was getting frayed due to the fact I couls not get the piston off - have found now that you dont need to - the difference is amazing so get the job done
