Hello

I need some help on a door issue I have on my defender 90 (L reg)
At the weekend the passenger seat belt got stuck in the door. I opened the door got the seat belt free and then closed it...
Thats when the problem started.:(

I can no longer open the door from either the inside or out.
I cant take the panel off the door, as I cant access the screws due to the door not opening.
The stalk that shows if the door is locked or not is in the locked position, but it will not come fully up, so it could be an issue with the lock?????

I need advice on getting this door open or at least gaining access to the mechinism behind the panel as then I may be able to get it open.

I have tried 'pushing' the door and trying the handles (as suggested on another site) but this wont work. So I am out of ideas.

Please help!!!!

Thanks in advance

if the mechanism is jammed against the striker you could try undoing the hinge screws to give a bit of play in the striker and release some of the tension,it may also allow you to swing the door open enough to get to the door card screws. never tried it meself but anythings worth a try. also proper introductions go down well here before you start asking for help;):)welcome.

Have you tried dumping copious amounts of wd40 or other lube in any available entry point? It might free off any crud that's jamming it...spray it in every hole, down the side of the push button and try wiggling everything...

Sorry for being 'abrupt' Bigsi13, just getting very "piste" off with this door!
What would you guys like to know?!?!:):D

Arf noon, wind down window, hold in the outside thumb button then wiggle the up/ down button and/or inside lever. Kind of sounds like my 110 when the kids try and open the back door as I'm reaching over to unlock it, the lock gets stuck in limbo.
Welcome, good luck, and be ready for some light hearted p1ss taking.

I got this on my 110 CSW - second row n/s. It's been like it for ages - I find that a good thump on the door just rear of the handle enables me to lift up button lock. I just put up with it and swear every time to replace lock.
I find that once unjammed it's fine for a short time.

Might not help you but give it a try - you never know.
By the way I mean thump with my hand not a hammer
