HELP!! Disco 2 rear seat issues!!

Hi!

Thanks to this and another website i have managed to service, replace shocks and all other manner of parts on my Disco 2. However i am stuck with something that at first i thought would be a simple fix but has turned in to a nightmare from hell. Following a recent MOT fail i was advised the rear (2nd row) passenger seat would not lock into an upright position, I have tried now for some 2-3 hours and have failed miserably, i have wd40'd it, lubed it removed most of, if not all of the mechanism and put it back together, and changed the spring.... All to no avail, it still wont stay in the upright position. I'd appreciate any help of pointers anyone may have as i am at my wits end and am considering buying a replacement chair!!

do you have a dog gaurd? only reason i have one fitted and really have to slam the seats to lock in, sometimes it takes a few goes

I had this with mine. it seems to be the plastic coating comes off the internal mech and stops it locking into place. You have to get all the chipped and split plasti-coat out of the mech then it should lock again.

Took hours to do this, so be prepared to spend a fair amount of time on it!
