HELP! Defender dash mounted stereo facia, I'm stuck!

I'm not normally stuck regarding stereos, especially as I was employed as an I.C.E. fitter once! :-D So I may look a little stupid here (what's new)

I'm trying to find a stereo facia/pod (single din), I've seen a neat and tidy unit, not too sure if it's a standard item or aftermarket, I've been into my local Land Rover parts (Park Royal) he hadn't a clue and Autoleads don't have one either.

It looks like the file I've uploaded.

comes as standard, got it on mine 1996 300 tdi 90, although I think i could do with a new one as it got soo many holes from where the previous owner mounted god knows what.
 
Cheers! I'm going to bid on one on ebay, the previous owner had built some mdf console in the middle, I've now ripped it out and built a new one, it has a 9" TV in it :-D so I have an excuse when I crash... well officer I was watching Neighbours that's why I didn't see the Taxi :)

I'll post a picture of before and after as I'm going to town on it.

if i've have known you were doing something stupid like putting a TV on yer dash i'd not have been so elpfull - might be a kid you hit rather than a taxi

Are they ordinary carpet sets in both those LR's?

I am mainly after the transmission tunnel carpet, can't see it on craddocks/exmoore etc...

tis one of the worse things to do with yer landy is to put carpet in it as it helps retain the moisture, unless yours never sees any water ?

The carpets came as standard in CSW, only got it a couple of months ago and yes they do seem to attract water from somewhere (everywhere!)

Aye your quite right Sean.

I am trying to come up with a solution to kit the floor out with some sort of carpet/mat, really as a sound deadener.

My footwells have a coating of firbreglass resin all around them so they are farily water resistant but then its the problem of the water being retained then.

A thought was get the whole lot sealed up bulkhead to floorpans to tunnel to sill so that water can't get in (or out unfortunatly) then get one of those all in one soundproofing mat things so as the water drips down the doors and the windows etc it will puddle on top of the mat at least.

fookernell thassa lorra carpet in them landys!

With your penchant for bling :)D:D:D), you might do worse than do a search for "mud console" which is a console which houses the stereo and lots of additional switches in the right plane (horizontally), you might find it suits you better.
