Help can any one tell me where my oil is going

Hi lads/ladeis

I checked the oil the other day in my disco 1 300tdi and in didn't register on the dip stick. I only filled it up 4 month ago because of same problem. There's no oil dripping out and i don't leave oil puddles any where and it still drives ok. Any ideas

I suspect you are burning it as a result of a worn engine or you are using the wrong grade of oil. You should check the oil level every 2-3 weeks not wait for four months.

i would say you are more than likly burning it

Bosh a ****e load more in there until it reads 3/4 on the dipstick after waiting 10 mins. then keep an eye on it every day so that you can see it is actually dissappearing every day. Check your egg-sauce for blue smoke, as this indicates burning oil.

Ok many thx for all answers i think it must be just a sign of age it has done 150000 just passed emissions test on MOT and if its not broke i won't fix i will just keep putting oil in but will check weekly. Ay other comments would be much appreciated
