Firstly I want to say I am new to forums. So I apologise to you for any mistakes I make.
I have a problem with my landy. It's a Defender 90 county station wagon. My brake light on my dash board keeps flashing at me while I am driving. It's a new fault on me and my hubby. I have driven my landy since passing my driving test in 1999. This has never happened before. This problem never happened to my hubbies 110.
Any ideas as to what the problem is, will be greatly recieved.

Hey landigirl517, welcome to the forum

cant help ya im afraid but just lettin you know that your not alone as my 1991 defender 90 has the same problem.
gonna have a look this weekend if i have the time n will let you know if i find anything.

That's the fluid levels one - as slob said. The manual says "the light is illuminated when the handbrake is applied - if the light illuminates when it is released a fault with the braking system is indicated, check the brake fluid level. If the light continues to illuminate, seek qualified assistance" - so check yer levels!
Welcome by the way!

Seems quite a common problem, although more on later ones. Usually down to the switch, but as the light can show low fluid level, don't just ignore it, check the level regularly, but you do that every morning anyway, don't you?

might be the slack in the hand brake cable. i have this problem. so if i dont press down the hand brake into position using the rubber boot, the light stays on or flickers when i drive over bumps.

it doesn't bug me cos i know this exists. all i need to do is to pull back the hand brake boot and do a lil adjustment or just tighten the hand brake cable so that it still stay tentioned when the hand brake is down.
