Low Battery voltage??

When you say key....just pressing the buttons?? As at times the alarm can only be cancelled by putting the key in the ignition and turning it to position 2....

I have put key in and put in position 2 and it was still going off

I have pulled lead off bat for now why i phone in work :eek:

Hmmmm strange one....

I trust the Vehicle battery has a good charge, as a low battery can cause allsorts of strange problems on the P38...

The next thing I guess would be to get the BeCM on a diagnostic device and see if any flags up....

Do the Indicators keep flashing??

You could just disconnect the sounder unit if it is only the audible alrm that goes off....

Bear in mind some sounder units are battery backed up....not sure how long the internal battery will last until the sounder dies though...

I have disconnected battery and left for 10mins just put it back on and no alarm but car just turns over with no message saying Engine Immobilization ????????????????

Use the EKA code to get past the immobilisation.

If you disconnected the battery while the car was locked or alarm active, will alarm the becm up. This security feature is built into the vehicle. You've made the vehicle think that someone has been cutting the wires.
You'll need to get the alarm disabled with diagnostics, get the vehicle started, then either investigate the alarm fault or leave disabled to prevent this happening in the future.

Can they leave alarm and immobilisation disabled then ?
Hi just joining in here, I have the same problem, my question is Can they leave alarm and immobilisation disabled then ?
And how is this done?
My p38 1999 2.5 DS auto is stuck in Spain.

Rangerover is up and running again it had lost its ems code :D

Think i will buy a BeCM Sync Mate

Hi whats this BCM Sync Mate? where can I get one?
Can the alarm system be left disabled? and how?
Is the system needed to do this portable? for a trip to Spain?

My car is stuck in Spain.

Regards Jose.

I'm looking at this thread and wondering which Sync-Mate I should buy should things go wrong?

My car (2001 P38 Vogue) is being mot'd today and I should be picking it up in a few days time from the dealer.

I am puzzled as to which BeCM Sync-Mate to consider because model BSM01 is for a P38 motronic petrol engine and BSM03 is for a P38 GEMS petrol engine and I don't know the difference between the two engines.

Also, it looks like there will be problems if I disconnect the battery regarding codes. I'll need to know about this before I drive away.

2001 should be motronic. If on top of your engine you have pipes that resemble a bunch of bananas, then it is motronic.

Your 2001 V8 is most likely the THOR engine as this was introduced around '98-'99 I believe.

Yours would be the Motronic Injection ECU...if it is the THOR engine....

The Difference in the two engines from a visual point of view is the Plenum chamber ontop of the engine....

GEMS has a rectangular box with 4.0 or 4.6 stamped on it.....
THOR has a 'Fluted' Plenum on top of the engine....

As Attached....
