I only came here because you are all experts on the car, I've not had it long and didn't want to start pulling it apart without knowing what I'm doing. Strangely enough the mech's phone number is on the phone or I'd ring him.

I have no idea how it managed to do so, didn't even know there was that much space under the steering wheel. I wouldn't have stopped if there was traffic but it was an empty road and I don't kill animals just for fun.

I'm sorry for bothering all of you.

Take a deep breath, Put your dummy back in, chuck on your rhino skin coat and then persevere.;)

I can't picture where your phone has got through into the steering cowel. Does the column tilt facility give any extra access space or allow the phone to move?

Long BBQ tongs or try hooking it with string, you need to get used I the banter on here, we can be helpful chaps given the chance

Sorry I just feel really annoyed with myself. I can't find anything on line to show me what panels come off where.

You know if you want to move the steering wheel up or down? It's that gap there. I have the steering wheel up quite high ( I'm rather short). I've tried to move it around, but that doesn't give me enough space to get my hand in. So in there I can just see lots of wires that presumably go to the airbag?

The panel under the steering wheel says airbag. I'm hoping that the panel at the side ie butts up against the door when it's shut, can come off. There doesn't seem to be any other way to get into that space?

have you got a wife coat hanger knocking about?

You will need to bend it in half or into a U shape and then make 2 hooks cos if you try and hook it with just one hook it'll just spin around.

Found a coat hanger, a carving fork and different shape wooden spatula.... So I'll give those a go and report back.

If not the mechanic is going to have a good giggle when I take it in tomorrow....!

Being it round to me I'll sort it along with other things ;)
