Help: 1996 300tdi Speedometer not working

Hi Guys,

I got myself a Land Rover Disco yesterday.

Everything on it is perfect (well to my standard ), however the speedometer is not working.

I have removed the VSS wire of the VSS, however the wire seems fine.

I got an ammeter and checked the green wire, and it is being earthed.

Could this be my problem?

Any ideas, or suggestions?
