Hello everyone - I'm a new member to this site. Bit of a shame this really, as although I have recently bought a 1984 Defender 110 hi-cap pick up its not going to be a horror story - well not much anyway. Its got a Mazda 3.5l diesel in it, which I am told comes from a Renault Bongo (eh???) It goes really well and there's really very little wrong with it, except.....

Needs a new chassis (I knew that when I bought it) Just had all the welding done and it sailed through its MOT.
Proobably will have to have new wiring loom and brake lines when the chassis gets done
Needs front pro shaft / UJs
Needs new seats.
Needs new cab top (its covered in canvas at the moment which is ok in summer but b*****y cold in winter!)
Needs a respray or possibly brush/roller job.

All things considered that's not too bad then is it? Well that's what I told my wife anyway.....

No, really...... its a Bongo engine.

Just looked it up on t'internet and it seems its a Mazda Bongo, not a Renault. Either way it goes well.

I'm off to the garage now to get some juice for it......
