hello all just registered on here just brought a disco which i am collecting on friday i have had a freelander in the past :-( 1.8 petrol im afraid it struggled on road so off road was hopeless so that went bye byes and i brought a normal car but now my mate has brought a disco and i want to play too lol so its a 1997 2.5 tdi disco completely standard (for now ) joined here mainly to ask advice.
im a fabricator welder by trade so will be making my own bumpers light bar a good friend says i can make my body lift kit on lathe and few bits and bobs
any ways thats me new to this world hoping to learn the ropes meet some people and most important have some fun
im in derby so if anyone local wants to say hi please feel free

Welcome to the loonyzone,

Being a welder will be useful as an owner of a D1, they have a slight issue with the boot floors, rear cross member, rear wheel arches, bottom of b posts, Sills, footwells and inner front wheelarches. But it is all fixable with the right tools and time.

The one my mate brought has been off road use only for a year or so and we are mid way rebuilding it's boot floor the one I've just picked up has a hole about the size of a 50 pence peace in boot floor ( granted by the time I get my hands on it will probably be able to get my head though it) but other than that it had all it's welding done last July for mot think there was a little hole in back drivers side door shut come wheel arch aswell but nothing major
