HI all,
just joined so I am a newbee. I will be purchasing, a 06 Disco 3 at 2.7 HSE dti soon with under 90,000 miles on clock its Auto.

Has side steps and tow kit fitted, Enjoyed the forums I have visited so far, no doubt i will be asking loads of questions soon.
I live in Bonny Scotland Ayrshire, I dont do off roading as a rule but wanted a decent 4x4, as I live in the country and tracks can be the norm.
My last 4x4 was a RAV 4 with 130.000 miles only thing I did was fit two rear shockers, due to one leaking. serviced as per Manufactures schedule.
Great car now onwards and upwards!

Welcome - always good to see another Discovery 3 owner and from Scotland as well :)
has the timing belts and oil pump been replaced, if not stick that on your list of priorities at No.1

Timing belt was changed at proper interval. Not sure about oil pump. What Milage does it require to be change

The oil pump should be replaced at the same time as the belts.
New belts have been known to put strain on an old pump which in turn fails causing catastrophic engine damage.
Think it also makes sense to replace the water pump at the same time.
 
Thanks for that information I don't remember my way around these vehicles.

So looking to refresh. My familiarity with them. Although I am a bit older now. Retired. REME. Rough Engineering Made Easy

belts etc should be changed 105,000 miles or 7 x years

@biggeeeee has said always better to check that the oil casing has been replaced

Belts were changed at 70,000 miles. Full service history with vehicle when I get it next week. Just wondering how much road tax is mot due March whilst I am on holiday but will test it one month before expiry date.

@biggeeeee has said always better to check that the oil casing has been replaced
