I've been lurking for a while & thought that it was time to say hello.

Anyway, I'm British living and working in Abruzzo Italy. A friend of mine (who owns a Disco 3 and a Defender) got me hooked on Land Rovers and Off Road'ing.

So I bought my 1st Land Rover Disco (94 200tdi) the end of November 2012, from an utter and complete git. He claimed to have just had the head and the clutch done, so it was tad surprising when the cam belt snapped in the middle of nowhere a few weeks later.

Work done since December;
  • heater motor (un-seized, yay! wd40 rocks)
  • cam belt & rollers (omg... jebus....noooooo)
  • push rods (bent to buggery)
  • water pump
  • viscous unit (knacked & somebody had welded the fan to it)
  • bias plate (snapped)
  • both head light units (reflectors were kaput)
  • Headlight adjusters (they'd been replaced with bits of crap and the wrong nuts)
  • filter service kit (fluids, filters etc)
  • wipers & washer jets
  • shocks (worn out)
  • track rod ends (meh)
  • replaced the steering rod because the threads were wrecked
  • steering damper
  • PAS pump & belt (died last week) found a used one on ebay
  • handbrake shoes (except i bought the wrong ones so cleaned n adjusted the old ones)
  • 1 inch lift kit
  • rear twin shock kit (still to fit)

*thank god my mate is a excellent mechanic with a great set of tools and a nice garage behind his house... else I'd be utterly knackered

kinnda unlucky .... but the motor just keeps getting better and better (that's what i tell myself anyway) 2nd and and 3rd gear crunches when cold and the clutch makes a really weird noise at high rev's when its slipped.

The off road driving around here is tremendous & i love my disco (and hate it) we get out for a drive every other weekend. There's some seriously good driving around here. I've made a load of videos lately, but its challenging driving off road, changing gear, smoking and videoing at the same time, i need to work on that.

Anyway... lots of useful and really helpful info on here so......hi.
