Hello - Just bought myself a 110 as a rolling project / daily driver...

Could always blank it with a sheet of metal I guess?

Well, yes, you could, but..... there are better ways - Silicon / tiger seal is good - but if you use some clear vehicle wrap over the roof.... it's sort of an instant fix, and will last whilst you get a new seal organised.....

Thanks for all the kind words, as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it, like you say though I'll not be the only one thinking that so security is top of the list!

I'll get those granny slicers off the front then, shame as they look awesome :D

I'd really like to figure out a way of stopping the sunroof leak beyond a jacket / umbrella as it's dripping right where the top of my head is and the other stream lands in the general crotch area haha...The trouble is the seals gone (easy enough) but the catch / latch is broken so might need to find a replacement...

There are a number of postings on the site offering suggestions on ingress of water from sunroof. I posted one some time ago which may, or may not be appropriate.

On most factory fitted sun roofs there are drainage channels which allows water to drain from the channel in the seam which "houses" the glass/steel roof when closed. The drainage channels can be cleared by air or wire coat hanger.

Yeah cheers for the heads up, they will no doubt be blocked given how much debris was on it! All seals are hard and perished / partially missing too though and the latch is knackered...

Well it says Land Rover on the catch, but the glass looks like it's got a bit of a curve (very slight) so I'm guessing it's not... It if it is factory it might be off a disco or something? Didn't notice any channels when I looked at it at the weekend though!

You need to have a good look at the unit. I don't recall ever having seen a Defender with a factory sun roof, but I'm certain that some one will confirm or correct my ignorance:)

So bit of an update, not got much done as I had a bit of a minor surgery but all good now...

Sunroof doesn't have drain tubes (guessing it's aftermarket!) but shouldn't be too hard to source a replacement if needs be.

The front lower shock mount seems totally goosed, it appears to have a new poly bush sandwiched between old crusty washers and about half an inch of free play! I will have a proper look when I'm a bit less sore lol...

The Mrs is already in despair at all the boxes being delivered (one of which was a pedal lock) but she's very VERY understanding (hence my three projects!)
