Hello everyone, my name is Richard and have recently joined.
I'm landrover-less at present, but hoping to buy in the near future (just waiting for an expected payout to come my way :D).
I've been wanting one for a number of years now, but the usual things kept getting in the way (kids, work, lack of funds etc etc) - but things are looking up (fingers crossed) and I'm due a few bob!
Quite handy mechanically and have built a couple of kitcars in the past, and really miss tinkering about in the garage to be honest, so I'm thinking a landrover is perfect for me now.
I'm just scouring the boards to find out as much information that I can at the moment in preparation for a future purchase, so I don't suppose I'll have too many questions at this point - but I'm sure there will be plenty in future!

Anyhow - hello to you all.

R.

Still a little bit up in the air at the moment being honest. Have really wanted it to be a 110 for a long time, but then I keep looking at 90's - but there is still something about the 110 that draws me back!
It's just going to be something that catches my eye I think, but then again, the really serious looking hasn't started yet!
I'm still trying to educate myself of the pitfalls, and what to look out for to try and avoid a complete bag of nails.

OK,

But a Defender / 90 / 110 is what you are looking at? That gives you a massive choice depending on budget from £2500 up to above £40K.

110 is so much more practical for load lugging. I only really noticed it when i got my 90 as to how dinky the rear space is. If you have a couple of seats in there then the load carrying ability is naff all.

Cheers

Thanks both for your comments. There was always a small niggle that the 110 would be too big, so your comments on load space in the 90 is very helpful and good to know, as seats in the back are a must for me.
Budget is going to be somewhere in the region of 7.5 to 10k, but realistically somewhere in the middle, to allow for some initial contingency funds. Hoping I can find something relatively decent for that sort of money.

For that sort of money, you will be looking a front facing fold out rear seats.

I would highly recommend you going and looking at one to see how little space there is when seats are deployed. If space would be enough for you then I still personally prefer the 90 as a fun vehicle.

Cheers
