he and greetings all.
please dont view py picture and think i am a gangster or some nutcase, im not!
i now have a full beard and longer hair and dont look so mental
i have been interested in old landys along time but never been able to buy one.
im still looking for an old one, 60's or early 70's tax exempt short wheelbase in yorkshire that i can do up and use, not show off at the rally's n stick in a barn the rest of its life, the way i look at it is a landrover is the same as any vehicle, it was made to be used not hidden away.
my first car was an ancient reliant which i drove on a bike licence ( i didnt have a car licence at the time ) followed by 2 more untill i bought an old mini to persuade me to get a proper licence, which it did.
circumstances prevailed and the mini had to be sold ( much to my complaints ) and since then i have enjoyed the use of a couple of very nice ford sierra's, a crap vauxhall cavalier, a very very nice nissan terrano, a reasonable ford escort followed by 2 ( mk1 and 2 ) vauxhall zafira's which i would part money for again.
ive always liked bikes and bought a vespa 200 a few years back and use dit on average of 300 miles a year ( not enough damn british weather ) so i decided what could tow a decent weight, be reasonabley practible and a nice usuable classic, a landrover.
i have now been hunting for around 6 months and found nothing but scrappers and people saying "rebuild it on a second hand galvanised chassis"
so here goes, ive finally found a forum thats all landy! and im looking for something in north yorkshire, a series 2 or early 3 which is tax exempt, short wheelbase, and diesel, appart from that anything goes.
let me know about the thing hidden in a barn or at the back of a farm needing rescueing, i restore stationary engines and vintage tractors, i can weld and spray paint to a reasonable standard, so if anyone knows of something interesting please let me know.
whatever i find will be used, it will ( slowly ) be restored, as my pride and joy mini was and will not become something that is stuck inside and trailered to shows.
my full intention is to use my own done up ( or partially done up ) landrover to take my stationary engines to pickering steam fair next years where i will be baving atleast a years worth of hair and beard shaved off on prestons stage in aid of the yorkshire air ambulance.
so please help me realise this, at least please can you sponsor a very worthy course? ( i dont know wether i spelt it right, im not too good with typing )
many thanks for any help, you can pm me with anything you know about.
many thanks in advance
