It's not often my timing is considered 'impeccable' but I picked up the Disco yesterday evening and it snowed overnight!

Newbie to LR, Disco and diesel automatics, so a steep learning curve on the way...

I drove it from Penrith to Broughton Beck and whilst it is certainly more utilitarian than my current Classic Saabs (of course), I was sufficiently impressed to think I bought a good one (fingers crossed). I had a Trooper previously and it doesn't feel quite as 'car like' but that's no bad thing as I've bought it to be able to get out when the weather is poor - lots of water here makes ice unavoidable.

It's a P reg 300 Tdi ES auto with leather seats and electric everything. It was flippin' cold last night and the heated seat was fantastic (made up for the lacklustre heating?).

The auto gearbox seemed fine, the engine surprisingly quiet at 70 mph.

All the electric windows and sunroofs work fine, the remote and alarms etc. all good, as well as all the lights, indicators but several electric switches aren't working: heated rear window, heated front window, rear wash & rear wipe, rear fog. Everything else, including the rather strange mirror dimming function are good. I haven't tried the A/C, and the radio/CD code needs retrieving. Oh the interior lighting does not come on when the doors open but do work manually.

All in all a new and exctiting prospect! Not least of all understanding the H and L 4 x 4, and the diff lock?? Completely new to me and a little bit scary!

I will be aking loads of questions, believe me but I know I'm in the right place for answers :D
