Hey all, as you can probably guess by the username, I'm Steve and I've just bought my first Land Rover, a 97 Disco 300 TDi.
I'm more of a classic Ford man, but I went off roading with a mate of mine in his Disco a couple of weeks ago and I loved it. I was amazed at what a standard Disco is capable of, so the next day my van was up for sale and I was on the lookout for my first Land Rover
I picked up my Disco off Gumtree, was advertised for £895 with 4 or 5 months tax and test, ended up giving £650 as he had been driving it around in Diff lock
and it was stuck in it. Luckily after no more than half a mile from his house it came out of Diff Lock and now it goes in and out no bother
It has a few bits of oxidisation and minor scuffs on the body, but the sills and boot floor are good, the only rust problems I can find is inside the back doors and a couple of holes under the arches, but apart from that I love it.
The Disco will be used daily, with the odd 'play' every couple of weeks.. Looking forward to maybe meeting a few other Land Rover owners, and getting some tips and advice from guys off here.
Cheers, Ste.
