Well after a month or so on the board and after all the help I've received I thought it was about time I said hi to you all.
I'm now the very proud owner of a petrol SIII SWB Station Wagon picured here:

It bought unseen by me after an RAC inspection. The collection journey was one which I'll not forget in a hurry.
Saturday: Leave Idre Fjall, North Sweden, and drive throught the night to arrive home, North Germany, after a 21 hour 1000 mile drive on Sunday afternoon.
Monday: Get up at 4.00am, wife drives me to the airport in a snow storm take 7.00am flight to Luton. Collect hire car and drive to Barnstaple arriving at 12.15. Check over Landy then go to post office to re-register said Landy (this sounds easier than it was as my insuarance is all German). Leave Barnstaple at about 4.30pm and begin the drive home.
Monday/Tuesday: 652 mile first drive in a SIII I'd never even sat in before (note to self - seek medical attention) through 4 European countries with ADAC (German RAC) cover that didn't start till midnight.
The journey was both tops and bottom. The Landy was A1. At the 500 mile mark I think a carb jet got blocked (took me a while to recognise the symptoms; it's been a while) but with some TLC she cleared after about another 50 miles. The traffic however was awfull, traffic jam after jam. Worst of all I got stuck in a major jam about 60 miles from home on a strech of road with no exits and no fuel stations . You guesed it I ran out of petrol, I had managed to nurse her to within 800m of a shell station so the embarassment so thankfully short lived and I was home 20 mins later. All after an epic 652 miles, 40 gallons and 19 hours (though I did stop for a two hour power snooze).
So was it all worth it? You bet ya.
Looking forward to helping where I can and am already planning my next great adventure.
