Hi and welcome!

A bit of TLC needed but it looks generally sound. Good luck with your delving into its history.

Petrol Series 3 I09". Definitely not a Defender.

According to the plate, it is ex Military, and it looks in need of a bit of TLC.

If it isn't already, get that registered as a Historic Vehicle, you will save yourself a bit of money.

And post about it in the Military Vehicles section on the forum, there will be people in there that know about ex-military stuff.

Thank you very much for your message which is greatly appreciated.

It is classed as a historic vehicle. What do you mean when you say that it will save me a bit of money. Many thanks.

Historic Vehicles are Zero rated for VED, and MOT exempt.
Also, unless you are planning to do vast mileages, you should be able to get Classic insurance, which at your location should only cost a bit over a hundred quid a year for a Series.

A Defender, on the other hand, would cost over 300 quid for VED, plus at least 300 a year to insure, and it would need an MOT every year.
