Hello,

I'm after some help from you experts on all Land Rovers, starting with the disco and defender series. I am keen to learn in the possibility of becoming a mechanic and I'm wondering if you have any advice where to start for somebody with no experience and little knowledge. Ideally I would like to be hands on, my uncle has a 110 TD5, so I can learn a bit from inspecting that but do you know any useful resources/links outside the site I could use to help and any advice on becoming an mechanic or specifically a Land Rover mechanic.

Thanks :)

Best I can offer is go to college / get an apprenticeship. Make yourself known to your local Land Rover indy. Offer to work for nothing, sweep the floor, make the teas , etc. If someone kindly allows you to do so, eventually you might start to learn from them. You are obviously of an age where the internet is your friend, so search for courses at your local college. Helping your uncle is obviously a good start but only if he knows what he is doing.
As for specific to Land Rover mechanic, get trained then look for a vacancy in a garage that works on the marque.
Here is what came up at top of page of my very first search on the subject.

Whilst you're doing all that read all the threads, on all the models , on the site.
Learn.
