Hello all, i'm Nostromo from Crawley in West Sussex. Am currently trawling ebay and autotrader to get to grips with what i think i want. After christmas (say Feb) i'll be looking to sell my Impreza wagon as its just too expensive to run. Having just got married, the next thing on the list of life is kids which means getting something a little more sensible and a little more economical but still fun at the same time. I've decided to buy myself a Freelander and will be looking for an '05/'06 TD4 Sport. I look forward to firing questions at you lot! :p

Welcome. Like the user name. Is it a direct reference to the Alien films?

It is yeah. My usual user name was taken so had to think long and hard for a new one and I actually learnt something from it too. Nostromo was actually the name of a book written by Joseph Conrad. The book is set in the fictional port city of Sulaco which as you'll probably know is the name of the ship from Aliens. I thought it was interesting anyway :D

Hi Nostromo. I too saw the light and decided to part with my legacy as the cost of repair was more than the car was worth. Luckily I found a Disco at the right price just as it got pretty much undrivable. My reasoning was that I can walk to my local landrover guy for parts if I need to and the help I got from him and others with my last one were superb.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone!

Don't suppose it was your diff giving up? My impreza has been really reliable to be honest (please don't blow up now!!). It's not a case that it's too expensive to maintain, more that it's too expensive to run. I'd rather keep it but I've committed now, even if fuel drops to 50p a litre, I'll be getting a hippo.

Happy christmas folks!!

sorry only just worked out how to find my replies. should rtfs.
I think it was the torque converter. It used to clang it's arse off under engine braking. Mind you I think I was always looking for an excuse to buy another disco anyway.
