Hello All,i have just bought my 2.5DSE Auto and already the fun has begun.Although xmas is past my dash is still lit up like Woolworth's shop window!
I had an SRS light on which was remedied by fitting a replacement rotary coupler this morning-1 down !
I have an ABS and TC light staying on and i suspect the valet before purchase may be in some way responsible?

Sometimes when the car is started when warm it revs quite high and the rev counter is dead? If i switch off and restart it ticks over nicely and the rev counter returns to normal operation, but i now have a gearbox fault showing on the message centre and the P R D N etc are not diplayed on the dash, and the car seems to be pulling away in 2nd and does not go into top.If i switch off and restart again all is back to normal and car drives perfectly .
I hope someone might be able to shed some light on this, and sorry about the length of the post.
Thanks
Ed(newbie)

If the Valet steam cleaned the interior it's likely the BECM is full of condensation which will cause all sorts of problems. Otherwise a dodgy battery or alternator will pull up many error messages. ABS & TC don't go out until you get to about 7mph.

Thanks for the reply Datatek, Ihave just spotted 2 plastic pipes which are in the engine compartment and look routed from the gearbox .they are both bent round like walking stick handles at the end and sit next to each other but are not connected to anything under the bonnet. Can you tell me what they are,and does anyone have a good underbonnet pic of the diesel p38 so i may see what's "missing".
Thanks in advance
Ed

You can get spray for electrics, it disperses water (dont think its a good idea to use WD40 though, its too thick and a different oil) I think the stuff is silicon based (not sure) but ask for advice before you use it in your BECM I have used it on the BECM and it worked for me, but I have changed mine since then

yea makes more sense, but when I did mine I was in the middle of no place in a field, and guess what not a bloody hair dryer to be seen :)

Thanks for the replies guys, i have read the thread on BECM removal and will have a go ,or is it possible to remove the lid while its in place?.

:D Cheers again guys for the info.
Just found a lovely fix on the nsf window.Pulled the door card off as window was going nowhere, just stayed up?Although i could hear it all working away inside the door
All was revealed when a beautifully measured and installed wooden brush shaft was found to be supporting the window as the ball joints had both popped off and the shaft must have been an easier fix for the guy.
Remove the shaft ,popped on the ball joints and voila another one off the list.
What will i find next??:D:D
